Explore these prayers and words of advice for help in seeking God’s will for you

Mother TeresaLove to pray. Feel often during the day the need for prayer, and take the trouble to pray. Prayer enlarges the heart until it is capable of containing God’s gift of Himself. Ask and seek and your heart will grow big enough to receive Him.

~ St. Teresa of Calcutta

Lord may I grow in consideration towards others, honesty with myself, and faithfulness to you. Make me generous enough to want sincerely to do your will whatever it may be. Help me to find my true vocation in life, and grant that through it I may find happiness myself and bring happiness to others.

Grant, Lord, that those whom you call to enter the priesthood or the religious life may have the generosity to answer your call, so that those who need your help may always find it. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Thou hast created us. O Lord, for Thyself and our heart is restless until it rests in Thee.

~ St. Augustine

John-Henry-NewmanGod has created me to do Him some definite service; He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another, I have my mission – I may never know it in this life, but I shall be told it in the next.

I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between persons. He has not created me for naught. I shall do good; I shall do His work. I shall be an angel of peace, a preacher of truth in my own place while not intending it – if I do but keep his commandments.

Therefore I will trust in Him. Whatever, wherever I am. I can never be thrown away. If I am in sickness, my sickness may serve Him; in perplexity, my perplexity may serve Him.

He does nothing in vain. He knows what He is about. He may take away my friends; he may throw me among strangers. He may make me feel desolate, make my spirits sink, hide my future from me – still He knows what He is about.

~ Blessed John Henry Newman

My Lord God,
I have no idea where I am going.
I do not see the road ahead of me
Nor do I really know myself,
And the fact that I think I am following your will
Does not mean that I am actually doing so.
But I believe that the desire to please you
Does in fact please you.
And I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire.
And I know that if I do this,
You will lead me by the right road
Though I may know nothing about it.
Therefore will I trust you always,
Though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death.
I will not fear, for you are with me,
And you will never leave me to face my struggles alone.

Amen.

~ Thomas Merton

Father,
I abandon myself into Your hands,
do with me what You will.
For whatever You may do, I thank You.
I am ready for all, I accept all,
let only Your will be done in me,
as in all Your creatures:
I wish no more than this, O Lord.
Into Your hands I commend my soul
I offer it to You with all the love of my heart.
For I love, You, my God,
and so need to give myself, to surrender myself into Your
hands without reserve and with boundless confidence,
for You are my Father.

~ Charles de Foucauld
